Camp Gan Israel offers scholarships to families who are unable to pay full tuition for camp. This Tzedaka fund is sponsored by generous people in the community and funded by the Jewish Community Federation of San Francisco. Please consider your needs very carefully when applying for a scholarship.
All scholarships are handled in a sensitive manner, with absolute confidentiality.
The following is important information regarding the scholarship process:
· Deadline. The Final deadline for scholarship applications will be announced shortly. Applications received late may not be accepted. No exceptions will be made.
· Discounts. No other discounts are allotted to scholarship recipients. Scholarship awards supersede and disqualify all other discounts.
· Deposit. In order for your application to be processed, you must include the deposit in the form of a check or Credit Card. If you are not satisfied with the committee’s decision, your deposit will be returned in full.
· Tax Returns. All Scholarship applications must include a copy of your 2011 tax returns. If you do not yet have your 2011 returns please contact our office.
Scholarship Application Process:
Please follow this guide carefully to ensure that your application is processed.
1. Complete a Camp Gan Israel Registration form. Registration form is available here. In order for your application to be processed, you must include the deposit in the form of a check or Credit Card. If you are not satisfied with the committee’s decision, your deposit will be returned in full. When completing your application online please be sure to select “Yes” when asked if you are requesting a scholarship. Scholarships forms that are not accompanied by registration forms will not be considered.
2. Complete the Camp Gan Israel Scholarship application. Application is available here.
3. Submit your 2011 tax returns. Tax returns can be faxed to (650) 493-3425 with “CGI Scholarship Committee – Confidential” as a header/cover. You can also submit this information by email or directly to our office. If you do not have your 2011 returns please contact our office.
4. Jewish Federation of Silicon Valley Applications. Families living in the Greater San Jose area (Sunnyvale and cities to the south), must also apply to the Jewish Federation for financial assistance. Please contact Elisa Gerson at (408) 357-7512 or elisa@jvalley.org to get started.
5. Scholarship committee reviews applications. The committee will meet to review your application and will award scholarships based on each individual case and the limitations of the scholarship fund.
6. Receive notification of Scholarship decisions. Following the decision of the scholarship committee, you will be notified in the form of a letter of the decision. You must respond to the Camp Gan Israel office in order to accept the scholarship. If you are not satisfied with the committee’s decision, your deposit will be returned in full.
